HSR Services is officially COR/OSSE certified!
After approximately a year of focused work, collaboration, training, documentation and continuous improvement, HSR Services has achieved Certificate of Recognition, or COR, certification through the Occupational Safety Standard of Excellence, or OSSE, program administered by the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC.
For our team, this is an important milestone. Safety has always been part of how we operate, but achieving COR/OSSE certification gave us the opportunity to take a deeper look at our systems, strengthen our processes and confirm that our health and safety management practices meet a recognized provincial standard.
It also represents the work of people across HSR. This achievement would not have been possible without the participation, attention and commitment of our team throughout the certification process.

What is COR certification in British Columbia?
The Certificate of Recognition, commonly known as COR, is a voluntary WorkSafeBC employer certification program. It recognizes employers that take a proactive approach to occupational health and safety, implement an effective occupational health and safety management system and successfully pass a certification audit.
COR goes beyond simply having individual safety procedures in place. The program looks at how an organization manages health and safety as a system, including leadership, worker participation, hazard management, training, inspections, incident prevention, documentation, review and continual improvement.
For HSR Services, COR certification was completed through the Occupational Safety Standard of Excellence program administered by the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC.
What is OSSE and how is it connected to COR?
OSSE stands for Occupational Safety Standard of Excellence. It is the COR certification program administered by the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC.
The Alliance is one of WorkSafeBC’s certifying partners and supports eligible employers through the COR process, including program guidance, audit requirements and certification support.
In simple terms, HSR’s OSSE certification is our Certificate of Recognition certification through the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC
What does COR certification mean for HSR Services customers?
For our customers, COR certification provides added confidence that workplace safety is supported by a structured management system that has gone through a formal audit process.
HSR Services works in active commercial environments every day, including offices, warehouses, retail locations, commercial properties and other operating facilities across Metro Vancouver. Our teams may be handling bulky materials, recycling streams, equipment, pickups, sorting and removal activities within our customers’ workplaces.
A strong safety management system helps us approach that work in a consistent and organized way.
For property managers, facility teams, procurement professionals and organizations that work with contractors, our COR/OSSE certification demonstrates that HSR has invested in formal safety systems and ongoing improvement. It can also provide useful additional assurance when reviewing contractor qualifications and workplace safety expectations.
COR certification does not mean the work stops once the certificate is earned. Maintaining certification requires ongoing attention to the health and safety management system, including annual audits and continued improvement.
Our journey to COR/OSSE certification
Achieving certification was approximately a year-long journey for HSR.
The process required us to look closely at how safety is managed throughout our operations and make sure our policies, procedures, training, responsibilities, records and day-to-day practices worked together as one system.
That meant collaboration across the organization. Team members contributed to the process, existing practices were reviewed, documentation was strengthened and opportunities for improvement were identified along the way.
The certification audit was an important final step, but the value of the process went beyond passing an audit. It helped reinforce that safety is part of our workplace culture and part of how we deliver dependable service.
We appreciate the support and guidance provided by the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC throughout the certification process, as well as the effort of everyone at HSR who contributed to reaching this milestone.
Continuing our commitment to safety
Achieving COR/OSSE certification is an important milestone for HSR Services, but our commitment to safety does not stop here.
We will continue reviewing, improving and strengthening our health and safety practices to support our team, our customers and the facilities we serve every day.
We are proud of what our team has achieved throughout this journey, and we look forward to continuing to build on that progress.
